LES D. GROSINGER, M.D. is an ophthalmologist specializing in the surgical treatment of cataracts. Dr. Grosinger holds Bachelor of Science and M.D. degrees from the University of Michigan, which he attended as a member of it’s combined Inteflex six-year medical program. Dr. Grosinger was on the teaching facility of Wayne State University in the department of Internal Medicine following completion of an Internal Medicine residency at William Beaumont Hospital. Dr. Grosinger completed his ophthalmology training at Sinai Hospital in Detroit where he was honored with the H. Sol Sugar resident of the year award in 1990. Dr Grosinger is board certified in both Ophthalmology and Internal Medicine.  
 
In addition to founding Grosinger, Spigelman and Grey Eye Surgeons, Dr. Grosinger is the medical director of the new state-of-the-art Eye Surgery Center of Michigan. This facility is dedicated exclusively to advanced eye surgery. Dr. Grosinger is also an attending staff physician at Straith Hospital, Southfield; St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Pontiac; and William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak.   He also is an instructor of cataract and refractive surgical techniques at William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak. He is actively involved in the research in and use of new technologies for cataract surgery. He was one of the principal FDA investigators for the ReSTOR® multifocal implant  and is currently a principal FDA investigator for the ongoing study of the new Acrysof phakic implant. Dr. Grosinger often speaks on medical and surgical diseases of the eye and enjoys active membership in a variety of national and state professional organizations and medical societies. Among them: American Academy of Ophthalmology, American College of Eye Surgeons, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, American College of Physicians, American Medical Association, Oakland County Medical Society, and Michigan State Medical Society. Dr. Grosinger is also a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Through his extensive research into various lens and corneal disorders, Dr. Spigelman has established a reputation as one of Michigan’s leading eye care physicians. His publications include numerous articles on cataract surgery, intraocular lens implantation, and various laser vision correction techniques. His vast research experience enables him to provide high quality laser eye surgery to residents in and around Birmingham, Detroit, and Troy. As a LASIK surgeon, Dr. Spigelman is committed to the highest level of ophthalmic care and seeks to ensure the satisfaction of all his patients.

Dr. Spigelman has played an integral role in the development of two market-leading vision correction technologies. He served as principal investigator in FDA trials of the VISX® laser platform - a state-of-the-art excimer laser used in refractive surgeries. He was also an investigator in the development of the ReSTOR® intraocular lens. The ReSTOR® lens improves upon conventional intraocular lenses by providing cataract surgery patients with a full range of enhanced vision.

In 1977, Dr. Spigelman graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Illinois, earning a Bachelor of Science in Honors Biology. He subsequently attended the University of Illinois at the Medical Center, where he earned his medical doctorate. He then trained in Ophthalmology at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary. In order to further his medical education, he went on to complete fellowship training in refractive, corneal, cataract, and anterior segment surgery at the University of Minnesota Medical School in 1986 and 1987.

In providing exceptional vision correction services to residents in and near Birmingham, Troy, and Detroit, LASIK surgeon Alan Spigelman M.D., was voted by his peers as one of Michigan’s best physicians. And in 1997, he was the recipient of the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s Honor Award. He has also been involved in teaching cataract surgery at the American Academy of Ophthalmology skills transfer courses.

Dr. Spigelman’s past roles include president of the Michigan Keratorefractive Society and program director of the Sinai Hospital Ophthalmology Residency Program. He currently holds memberships with several professional organizations, including the Michigan State Medical Society, the Oakland County Medical Society, the Michigan Ophthalmological Society, the American Medical Association, the American Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the International Society for Refractive Keratoplasty, the Contact Lens Association of Ophthalmologists, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the Michigan Keratorefractive Society.

Since joining Drs. Grosinger and Spigelman, David S. Grey, M.D., has been providing exceptional laser eye surgery to residents in and around Troy, Detroit, and, Birmingham. A LASIK surgeon with extensive experience in various refractive techniques, Dr. Grey specializes in the identification and treatment of diverse disorders of the eye. He has undergone special training in LASIK surgery, radial keratotomy, and photorefractive keratotomy. In addition, Dr. Grey, who has particular expertise in the treatment of cataracts, performs advanced no-stitch, small incision cataract surgery. He is also highly accomplished in the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma and diabetic eye disease.

After graduating Magna Cum Laude in biology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Dr. Grey received his medical degree from the Wayne State University School of Medicine in 1985. He went on to complete his internship and residency at Sinai Hospital in Detroit. He was awarded the H. Sol Sugar Award for Resident of the Year in 1989. Two years later, Dr. Grey was certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. In addition to offering vision correction procedures such as LASEK, Epi-LASIK, and PRK to residents in and near Birmingham, Detroit, and Troy, LASIK surgeon David S. Grey provides clinical instruction to resident physicians in ophthalmology and family medicine in Southeastern Michigan.
